Extras – Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini
In cooperation with Bergen National Opera, TSO Music Theater will be staging a production of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly in February of 2016. For this production we seek a number of extras – adults as well as children.
The main part for the extras is that of a boy around 8 years old. The boy will be playing Dolore, the son of Madama Butterfly. This is a demanding role, considering the boy has several scenes alone on stage. Therefore we are looking for someone experienced, and who has a high degree of understanding for stage work. The boy should be relatively tiny and small.
Seeing that the piece is set in Japan, we specifically look for extras with Asian qualities, primarily physically. Ladies should be between 160 and 165 centimetres in height, and men should be between 165 and 170 centimetres. This also has to do with our costumes, that are already manufactured and have been used in previous productions of the opera.
We also request some Western looking men, maximum height 185 centimetres, to play friends of the American Pinkerton.
In addition we seek a few boys beween the ages of 10 and 12.
Auditions will be held in the period of January 27 until February 18, 2016.
