Julian Rachlin – Jury leader

Lituanian violinist, violist and conductor Julian Rachlin is one of the most exciting and respected musicians of our time. A major presence in the performing arts since the age of thirteen, Rachlin has spent over three decades cementing his reputation as one of the world’s premiere classical violinists. He has also made his international mark as a recording artist, chamber musician and artistic director. Rachlin strongly values educational outreach activities and teaches at the Music and Arts University of Vienna.

Eldbjørg Hemsing

Norwegian violinist Eldbjørg Hemsing has built an impressive international career. Her repertoire ranges widely from Bach - via Norwegian folk music – to contemporary composers such as Tan Dun, giving her the ability to perform music with a unique and rare diversity. Her busy calendar includes soloist engagements with orchestras across the world, chamber music concerts, recitals and recordings. She is artistic director of the Hemsing Festival, and actively involved in several societal projects.

Sophia Jaffé

German violinist and professor Sophia Jaffé is known to be a brilliant and sincere violinist, delighting audiences worldwide with her musicality. She is laureate of several international violin competitions, and has performed with numerous renowned orchestras across Europe, in addition to having acquired an impressive list of recordings. Alongside her concert career she holds a professorship at Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts.

David Pickard

British born David Pickard has been director of the BBC Proms since 2015. Prior to this he has held several positions at major cultural establishments, such as the Royal Opera House, European Arts Festival, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Glyndebourne Festival. Passionate about bringing new audiences to classical music and identifying and nurturing emerging talent, he has made both topics an important part of the BBC Proms festival agenda.

Arvid Engegård

Renowned Norwegian violinist and conductor Arvid Engegård has an impressive and rich list of merits. As leader of the Orlando Quartet (1991-99), and the Engegård Quartet (2006 -), he has appeared at prestigious chamber music festivals and venues all over Europe. As a highly regarded concert master and conductor, he regularly visits orchestras in Norway and abroad. Engegård is the artistic director of Lofoten International Chamber Music Festival.

Kyung Sun Lee

Korean violinist Kyung Sun Lee has won prizes and served as jury member in several major international competitions. She enjoys an ever-increasing popularity as a performer, receiving high critical acclaim for her strong sense of style and technical supremacy. She is a committed artistic director of Changwon International Chamber Music Festival and Seoul Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, in addition to holding professorships at music conservatories in Oberlin, Houston and Seoul.

Tanja Dorn

Tanja Dorn launched her artist management agency Dorn Music in 2016. Her roster includes internationally sought-after artists and ensembles. She has also established “The Young Artists Foundation”, a non-profit initiative dedicated to supporting young talented classical musicians worldwide. Tania Dorn studied the piano at the Hochschule für Music “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin, where she received her master´s degree in piano performance, chamber music and pedagogy.
